《代號193》中將某人意識透過實驗階段的科技上傳給另一人的“意識上傳”，是尋找答案的關鍵。因角色可以進入大腦意識推動故事發展，蕭力修修改劇本時研究大量心理學、多重人格的資料，並釐清片中“意識上傳”的邏輯與敘事方法。 電影裏不同人的意識被上傳到楊祐寧的身體裏，因此他得扮演不同人的樣貌。蕭力修解釋，“這比一個角色扮演多重人格分裂更復雜，因爲還得要了解他接收到的意識來自怎樣性格的人，讓觀衆知道他已變成另一個角色。” 女主角張榕容扮演個性堅強的腦科學博士，並有一個7歲的小孩。
